Hardscapes/Paver repair & relay

Your pavers are probably
fine.

Sunken patios, uneven driveways, joints opening up. In most cases the stones are still good and the ground under them isn't. We lift, fix what's below, and put your own pavers back down flat.

We reuse your pavers.
Same stones
Reset, not replaced
― The situation

We reuse your pavers.

People call us assuming they're up for a full replacement, because that's what the surface looks like it needs. Then we get there and the pavers themselves have another twenty years in them. What's failed is the base.

A lift and relay takes the stones up, corrects everything underneath, and puts the same stones back. You keep the material you already paid for, the colour still matches the rest of your yard, and the number is a fraction of a rebuild.

Most of the time it's the right call, so it's what we recommend first.

Flat again.
― Why we reset the whole surface

Flat again.

Settling usually happens across a whole surface at slightly different rates, so one corner simply announces itself first. Reset the full area at once and everything comes back to a single height together.

That is what makes the difference visually. Joints close evenly, the border runs straight again, the pattern lines up down the length of the driveway, and the finished surface reads as a new install rather than a repair.

It performs better too. With the soft spots taken out from under all of it, the surface moves as one piece through the freeze-thaw, which is how pavers are designed to behave.

― What you get back

It looks new again.

Lifted, stacked in order and put back exactly where they came from. Nothing to match.

Most relays are a short job. We leave it swept, edged and clean.

― What we get called for

What we fix.

01

The dip by the garage

Water pools where the driveway meets the slab, or the whole apron has dropped an inch. Nearly always a base or drainage issue, and nearly always relayable.

02

Joints gone wide

Sand washed out, weeds coming through, stones starting to rock underfoot. Left alone the pattern keeps spreading and the edges start walking outward.

03

A patio that lost its level

Furniture won't sit flat, one corner has settled toward the lawn, and the step down from the door isn't what it used to be. Reset the surface and it comes back.

― FAQ

Repair questions

Depends on the stones. If they're still solid, and they usually are, a relay is the right call. Send us photos and we'll tell you.

Sometimes, if it's one settled spot. If the whole surface is moving, a spot fix buys you a season. We'll tell you which one you've got.

A lot less. The pavers are the big line item in a new build and you already own them. We price it after we see it.

If we do the whole surface, no. It comes back as one plane. If you only want a section done, we'll show you where the line will fall before we start.

All the time. It's a big part of what we do. We'll tell you what went wrong and quote the fix.

Repairs are shorter than new builds so they fit in easier. Once the ground freezes everything waits for spring.

What our clients say.

I highly recommend Brick Lawn Landscaping. They were AMAZING start to finish. They removed all our dead sod from 3 dogs and installed turf and it looks fantastic. Job was done on time, did everything perfect, great communication, went over everything and at a great price too!

Had Ben and his crew replace a 10' x 10' patio that had slumped/ sunk after some concrete work done. The finished result was very nice, level and clean looking. Very happy with result. Did the job in just over one day. I would have them do any stone work for me in the future.

One wide shot of the whole surface and one close-up of the worst area is usually enough for a real answer. If a relay makes sense, we'll explain why. If it doesn't, we'll tell you that instead of selling you one.
